It’s not news to anyone that posting articles is  a great way to increase your traffic and get additional exposure.

What may not be as obvious is where to submit your articles to get the most bang for your time. I’ve listed the top 27 Article Directories in order of Quantcast visitors per month. This list was complied on April 2, 2009 so things may have changed by the time you read this. Keep that in mind and do a few of your own searches if you want updated numbers.

I’m not saying that you can’t get some traffic from other Article Directories, it’s just that as a Internet Marketer you want to make sure you work smart all the time rather than hard. Granted, the top Article Directories will get the most traffic, remember that they also have the most competition.

But it’s easy to compete, just make sure your articles are original and have excellent content. Nothing works better than original and valuable content. This is especially important when posting articles to these directories. Keep in mind they are out there forever so don’t just post some PLR article that 50 other people have already posted. If you want to save time by using PLR articles at least rewrite them in your own words with your own spin on them.

To make sure you’re not posting duplicate content, take a few random sentences out of your article, copy and paste them into Google “with double quotes”  around them and make sure yours is the only result. This will guarantee that yours was the first posted. You don’t really have any control over other people copying it after that so don’t worry about it.

One more tip. Don’t post the same article to more than 4 or 5 directories. The search engines are getting pretty good at rooting out those that would “manipulate” the system to their benefit. Can you say spamming?

Wow! Who would have thought that ezinearticles.com gets 30,000 visitors a day? Wish I had that problem!

I usually don’t post articles to any of the directories ranking out of the top 10 but I do every once in a while. A little diversity never hurt anyone and I think it looks a little more natural that way.

So get out there and post those articles and by all means, make sure your signature has the programs you’re in for the long haul. There’s nothing worse than having all that hard work go to waste by promoting something in those articles then dropping out or giving up on the program. The articles stay out there forever and those links in your sig stay with them!
